Suchen SK is one of the emerging Malaysian photographers in recent years. He was born in 1974 in northern Malaysian state of Perlis of Indian decent where he is known for his free-spirited characteristics. Suchen is very passionate for the arts where he is fascinated by photography and music where he would eventually head out to Australia. Here, he obtained his degree in music production where he would then venture out to set out his name in the arts industry.
As an artist, Suchen has travelled around countries where he would learn from his experiences and then demonstrated in his body of work. From Australia, he would then go over to New Zealand where he took pictures of the world the way he saw it. A man who feels strongly about his passion for the arts, he was determined to accomplish his dreams before settling down for anything. He took an unorthodox step where he traveled while saving money along the way in which he lived and worked in the countries he visited.
This offered him a unique opportunity to see the world and experience the local culture at their best. While travelling, he had previously worked as a waiter, a doorman, a filing clerk, an English teacher, a bartender as well as in the construction line. Living along the motto of ‘everyman dies but not everyman really lives’, it is by this very philosophy that Suchen has set out to carve a unique way of life that not many people can undertake. While he does not keep a journal of his travels and experiences, which he regrets, the best journal that gives a true account of all that would be his photography.
As a photographer, his works have been acknowledged where it has been used by major publications like Readers Digest Asia and National Geographic while he has also been involved in previous assignments including the Rainforest World Music Festival in Sarawak and the government of Malaysia.
